When I initially chose to do something like this, I wanted to make my own YouTube channel. I envisioned this whole endeavor as me making videos discussing various metal bands that I like, their releases, and other things. However, making a YouTube channel simply seemed slightly daunting to me. And since I was still determined to do this, I felt that blogging would be the better route.

While brainstorming names for my YouTube channel, I landed on Dovendyr, which worked fairly well for me. Dovendyr is the Norwegian word for a sloth. I wanted to make videos, but I felt that I couldn’t churn them out on such a strict schedule. I felt that I would do better if I released videos at a slower pace – sort of akin to moving at the pace of a sloth.

Despite never actually making the YouTube channel that I had originally wanted, I decided to stick with the original name. It’s a name that I like, and besides sloths are pretty cool, in my opinion.
